THE EALING PROJECT

Mar 1 2023

The Ealing Project is a new multi-functional space for the Borough of Ealing and beyond. Found on the ground floor of Ealing Broadway shopping centre, the three-screen Ealing Project cinema is the first cinema in the area for 14 years. But this space is much more than just a big screen.

Robert Salmons, Co-Director of The Ealing Club and founder of the Ealing Blues Festival, shared that “Ealing has the heritage of the two defining art forms of the second half of the 20th century”; this being cinema, via Ealing Film Studios, and British rock music, via the Ealing Blues Club where the Rolling Stones met. The Ealing Project is an outlet where the culturally diverse talent of Ealing can be curated together to celebrate the neighbourhood’s iconic creative heritage.

What is the Ealing Project?

The Ealing Project is a vibrant new community hub created to encourage collaboration and creativity within the area. On top of showing a range of the latest blockbusters throughout the week, the venue also has several events spaces for hire. This brand new venue wants its audience and community to shape what it does and is open to a variety of art forms; from exhibitions in its 10-metre-long art gallery, to improv comedy and live music performances on its 200-person capacity stage.

You can also find regular community meetups and events in the Ealing Project Community Room, a great place to find some friendly faces if you are new to the borough. Why not dust off your general knowledge at a community quiz show? Hosted by the Ealing Project favourites ‘The Good Time Gals’, you can expect creative challenges and game show fun. Or, for a more relaxed gathering, you could tag along to an Ealing Meetup Group event, which is designed for locals both new and familiar who are looking to make new connections.

If you are not performing on stage or supporting an up and coming artist, you can socialise over a coffee in the brand-new café or with a glass of wine at the Project bar. Cheers.

Ealing Cinema

The Ealing Project cinema is Ealing Broadway’s first movie theatre since the Empire cinema closed in 2008. The Ealing cinema delivers a programme that caters for everyone, whether it’s the latest blockbuster, independent film, Ealing filmworks has you covered. The cinema in Ealing is also part of the National Theatre’s NT Live Programme, so there’s no need to commute to catch the latest West End play. With an Ealing Project membership, you can also access great perks including free tickets as well as discounts at the bar and café.

Aside from the Ealing Project cinema, visitors to the area can also check out other cinemas in the neighborhood, such as the Vue cinema in Acton or the Odeon Luxe in Westfield Shepherd’s Bush which features state-of-the-art technology, including reclining seats and a variety of refreshments.

Overall, the Ealing Project cinema and community space provide a vibrant and inclusive hub that showcases Ealing’s cultural heritage and celebrates the borough’s diverse community. With its variety of events and community meetups, this is an ideal destination for anyone who wants to get involved in the local scene, meet new people, and enjoy the latest blockbusters and cultural events.
