Telford Homes named UK’s most sustainable housebuilder
Ranked number one in the Next Generation housing benchmarking report 2020
Telford Homes has been ranked as the UK’s most sustainable housebuilder, in the ‘Next Generation’ housing benchmarking report 2020.
The NextGeneration Benchmark assesses and ranks the sustainability performance of the UK’s 25 largest housebuilders. Telford Homes achieved first place, based on performance against a set of stringent criteria – as well as receiving the ‘crystal award for transparency and sustainability disclosure’.
Overseen by an executive committee made up of Homes England and the UK Green Building Council, and administered by JLL, the Next Generation benchmark is designed to increase transparency and improve sustainability performance in the homebuilding sector.
Telford Homes was assessed against a set of criteria covering areas including company strategy and governance, future proofing, environmental site management, water and waste management, health and safety and design and placemaking.
This year’s results mark a rise in Telford Homes’ rankings in the annual report of 16 places in the past four years, as the company continues to champion its ‘Building a Living Legacy’ sustainability strategy – including last year becoming the first housebuilder to set out an integrated sustainability roadmap for the next decade, culminating in becoming a net-zero carbon company by 2030.
Jon Di-Stefano, Chief Executive of Telford Homes, comments: “We’re incredibly proud to be ranked as the UK’s most sustainable housebuilder in the Next Generation benchmarking report. Driving sustainable principles is a central component of our business strategy and guides our day to day activities. This recognition is a real testament to the hard work of our team in driving forward our ‘Building a Living Legacy’ strategy; to create a better quality of life for our customers, enhance local communities, manage risk and deliver value for our investors.”
